Edith Cornwell Jones, age 98, of Morganton, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 in Morganton. Born on January 12, 1919 in Murphy, NC, she was the daughter of the late Hilton Clay Cornwell and Cora Abilee Decker Cornwell. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church in Eatonton, GA. She owned and operated a day care in College Park, GA for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claude Virgil Jones. She is survived son and daughter-in-law, Claude Michael and Elizabeth Jones of Villa Rica; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Tom Butler of Morganton; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 19 at 2:00 pm from Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jonesboro, GA. Pastor Richard Helms will officiate. Brett Wylie, Bryan Butler, Tim Butler, Daniel Butler, Todd Howell, and Phillip Jones will serve as pallbearers. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
