Edith Mae Cochran, age 87, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 7, 1938, Edith was the daughter of the late Frank Marion and Mary Jane Payne McFarland. She was devoted to her Baptist faith and was a member of Young's Chapel Baptist Church, where she found joy in worship and fellowship. Edith devoted her life to creating a home filled with love and warmth, where she raised her children and cared for her family.

Edith was a beloved wife, cherished mother, loving grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.E. Cochran; and siblings, Claude McFarland and Floyd McFarland.

Edith is survived by her children and their spouses, Gary and Marcia Cochran, Rita Cochran, Sharon and Jesse Davis, Mary (the late Jim) Nixon, and Vicki and Larry Franklin; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, extended relatives, and dear friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. David Mashburn and Rev. Billy Cantrell officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Pat Mashburn. Interment followed in the Young's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Greg Cochran, Eric Cochran, Tracy Cochran, John Deal, Nick Cloer, Chris Woody, and Derrick Thomas serving as pallbearers. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers were Marion McFarland, Jeff Stanley, Dale Cochran, and Charlie Cochran. The family visited with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Blue Ridge, Georgia on Friday, January 23, 2026 prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
