Edith Verner Ballew, age 94, of Epworth, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 in Copperhill. She was born on July 20, 1928, in Cherokee County, NC to the late Leonard Allison Verner and Ethel Bell Verner. Edith was a member of Friendship #3 Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude W. Ballew; son, Steven Ballew; and brothers, Elvin Denton, Marvin Verner, Morris Verner, and Jimmy Verner.

Edith is survived by her brothers, Hoyt Verner, Lloyd Verner, and Delton Verner; sister, Mildred Dickey; grandchild, Stephanie Jones; great-grandchildren, Chloe Andis and Kinslee Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Scott Baugh officiating. Music will be provided by Rita Rucker and Tera Queen. Interment will follow in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be B.J. Chancey, Nathan Chancey, Scott Verner, Raymond Verner, Patrick Trantham, and Carl Arp Jr. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
