Edgar Cantrell, age 86, of Epworth, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 in Blue Ridge, Georgia. He was born on March 14, 1937 in McCaysville, Georgia to the late Holland Cantrell and Olla Smith Cantrell. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Edgar honorably served his country in the United States Marines for four years. He worked as a cabinet maker, carpenter, and also poured concrete. He was a kind and gentle person who was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and taking care of his family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Leslie, Leonard, and Willard Cantrell; and sisters, Alvie Cantrell and Helen Huffman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lois Mathis Cantrell; sons and daughters-in-law, Jamie (Tara) Cantrell and Russell (Deb) Cantrell; grandsons, Blake (Tiffany) Deaver and Cayden Cantrell; great-grandchildren, Easton Dodd, Wyatt Deaver, Lucas Deaver, and Addison Deaver; and sisters, Mary Dalton, Loretta (Fred) Rhodes, and Irene Henson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Claude Mathis and Rev. Steve O'Neal officiating. Interment will follow in the Patterson Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Richard Davis, Jonas Alfredsson, Ranier Mathis, Earl Johnson, Brett Davis, and Brad Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jackie Huffman, Mark Ramey, Carl Albertson, and Carson Mathis. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
