The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Carl Edward Hedrick, age 60, of Copperhill, TN, who died Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Copper Basin Medical Center in Copperhill, TN. Mr. Hedrick was a retired miner having worked for the Tennessee Chemical Company and TVA at the Blue Ridge Dam. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a member of the Ducktown Masonic Lodge. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Copper Basin. Mr. Hedrick was the son of the late George Henry Hedrick and Callie Loraine Allen Hedrick. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Keith Hedrick and his first wife, Mary Mozelle Hedrick.He is survived by his wife Sharon (Crowder) Hedrick of the home; two sons, Robert Edward Hedrick of Copperhill, TN, and Brandon William Hedrick of Dalton, GA; two sisters, Edith Verner of Suit, NC and Ann Steele of Hampton, FL; three brothers, Frank Hedrick of Suit, NC, Charles Eugene Hedrick of Comanche, OK and George Junior Hedrick of Copperhill, TN; two grandchildren, Heather Hedrick and Brandon Noah Hedrick; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends survive Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 22, at 7:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge chapel with Rev. Donald Weaver and Rev. Donald Padgett officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Ducktown Lodge. Pallbearers will be Robert, Brandon, Dennis, Stacy, James, and Leroy Hedrick, Pete Elrod, Jason Payne and Richard Deaver. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge in charge of the arrangements.
