Earl Leroy, affectionately known to family and friends as "Red" Piatt, age 78, of Cleveland, TN passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in the Copper Basin Medical Center. Mr. Piatt was a son of the late Richard & Leomma Nelson Piatt and was retired as a Machine Operator with the Maytag Corporation in Cleveland. He was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by step children George E. "Ebby" and wife, Lucille O'Neal and Billy and wife Brenda O'Neal all of McCaysville, GA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Ed O'Neal and Rev. Melvin O'Neal officiating. Music was by Hoyt & Carolyn Payne. Pallbearers included: Waylon O'Neal, Richard Davis, Josh Lacy, Donald Stewart, Darrell Stewart, Jamie Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers included: Bill Johnston, Clyde Welch, Ken Caldwell, Gene Pelfrey, Robert Hughes, Tommy Payne, Junior Mathis, David Foster, Lee Ensley.
