IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Mae
Simonds
January 3, 1935 – November 12, 2025
Dorothy Mae Baker Simonds, age 90, of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in Chattanooga. She was born on January 3, 1935, to the late Arthur Brown and Della Sites Brown.
Dorothy was a beloved wife, mother, mamaw, and friend. She always thought of others. She enjoyed traveling with her cousin, Sue Shaw and her husband, John. They traveled together for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family. The past few years she loved sitting on her porch, watching the birds and squirrels. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her family with all her heart and was always ready to help.
She was a wonderful "mom" and "mamaw" to many, including those who were not related because she had compassion to love all. Dorothy loved her grandkids and great-grandkids more than anything. She loved her granddogs, "Oscar" and "Peanut" and loved when they came for a visit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Baker; daughter, Donna Williamson; grandson, Justin Hamby; her second husband, Jack Simonds, Sr.; step-son, Jack Simonds, Jr.; step-granddaughter, Alicia Simonds; and step-son, Mervin Simonds.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Tony Hamby; son-in-law, Greg Williamson; grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Hamby of Murphy, Chrystal Hamby of Murphy; Ami (Damien) Dalton of Cleveland; step-daughters, Janie (Chris) Henry, Sandra A. Simonds of Murphy; great-grandchildren, Jaylan, Jonah, Justus, and Cashus Hamby, and Hannah and Ashley Dalton, Clifton and Ryan Henry, and Justin Simonds; special family, John Shaw, and Cheryl (Randy) Christian, and beloved friend, Charles Brendle. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
