The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Dorothy Earlene Wimberley Payne, age 78, of McCaysville, Ga, who passed away Tuesday, October 20th at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Dorothy was a native of the Fannin County area and was a daughter of the late William Emory and Etta Lou Thrasher Wimberley. She was a member of the Mt. Liberty Baptist Church and also attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmon Payne and son, Scott Henry Payne. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and wife Sandy Payne of McCaysville, GA, Darrell Payne of McCaysville, GA, Derrick and wife Stacey Payne of Copperhill, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and husband Amos Burke of Epworth, GA, Darlene and husband Danny Stover of McCaysville, GA. twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Ed O'Neal and Rev. Melvin O'Neal officiating. Music will be by Rev. Melvin O'Neal, Joann O'Neal and Greg O'Neal. Pallbearers include Tony Baldridge, Nick Wimberley, Larry Wimberley, Zachary Payne, Joey O'Neal and Danny Stover. Interment will follow in the Mobile Baptist Church Cemetery.
