It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Dorothy Lee Green announces her passing in her home on Sunday, July 15, 2007, at the age of 79 years. Dorothy was born in Fannin County and was the loving daughter of the late Oscar John Self and Berdie Dillinger Self. Mrs. Dorothy Lee Green enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting. She was a very talented painter and loved spending time with family and friends. Dorothy had a genuine love for people and relished all who were brought into her life. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered but sadly missed by her husband of 59 years, Gene Green. Dorothy was the beloved mother of Richard Eugene Green and Debbie Thiel of Hillsdale, MI, Daniel J. Green of Wyandotte, MI, Terry Lee Green of Mineral Bluff, Lester "Duke" James Green of Lincoln Park, MI; and daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Green of Litchfield, MI. Dorothy will be dearly missed and but fondly remembered by her sisters, Willa Mae Gray of New Boston, MI, and Sue Campbell of Blue Ridge. She will be cherished forever by her grandchildren, Danielle R. Gretzmacher of Wheaton, IL and Richard Matthew Green and wife Sara Green of Lansing, MI; and great granddaughter, Payton R. Gretzmacher of Wheaton, IL.
A beautiful funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Doyle Davis officiating. Music was by Beverly Thompson. Pallbearers were Richard Green, Duke Green, Terry Green, Daniel Green, Richard M. Green, and Danielle Gretzmacher. Interment followed in Chastain Memorial Park. The Green family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all that continue to express their, thoughtfulness, and support during this difficult time.
