Mrs. Dorothy Marie Galloway, age 90, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on April 8, 2019 at her home. Born in Fannin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Rohamer Bowen Wilson. She was a member of The Temple Baptist Church. In her earlier years, she always served God in the Church in many different capacities. Some of those included teaching, community service and outreach, Bible and Sunday School, and even choir. Her greatest service to God was serving as a pastors wife for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Galloway loved to sew, cook, work in her flower garden and ride through the mountains to take photography opportunities. She loved time spent with her children, grand children and great-grandchildren. The special times to her consisted of the family gathered with laughter, great food, fellowship and unconditional love. Mrs. Galloway was also preceded in death by two sons, Clois Anthony Galloway and Randall Howard Galloway. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Rev. James Howard Galloway of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Frank Drummonds and Joyce and Dennis Southern all of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer Jacobs and Jamey (Jill) Burnette all of Blue Ridge, GA, Clint (Katy) Southern of Nashville, TN and Monnie Leigh (Wilson) Meads of Chattanooga, TN; great grandchildren, Kara (Josh) Burgess, Julie (Jarod) Petty and Cody Jacobs all of Blue Ridge, GA, James Henry Southern, Elijah Luke Southern and Matthew Clinton Southern all of Nashville, TN, Bryce Burnette and Brody Burnette both of Blue Ridge, GA. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew McDanield and Dr. Roger Beck officiating. Music was provided by Ryan and Holly Norton and Journey Dent. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Claude Mathis officiating. Pallbearers were Clint Southern, Jamey Burnette, Stewart Shapiro, Ed Wilson, Wilson Meads and Bill Goss. Honorary pallbearers were Loy and Betty Sue Jarrett, Barbara and Stewart Silvers, Becky Cannon, Betty Caldwell, Sybil Wilson and Bob Thomas.
