Dora Simonds Collins, age 91, of Copperhill, Tennessee passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026 in Ducktown, Tennessee.

She was born on January 12, 1935 to the late Henry Pless Simonds and Lola Mae Carter Simonds. Dora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed canning, tending to her flowers, and had a great love for travel which led her across the United States. She worked many years at Levi Strauss & Co. and several other clothing manufacturing companies, later retiring from Preferred Medical Products. For many years she attended and raised her family in New Hope Baptist Church, and later attended Victory Temple Holiness Church.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul David Collins; infant daughter, Ladonna Collins; brother, David Cross; and sister, Carolyn Hembree.

She is survived by her children, Doug Collins (Stephanie) of Ducktown, TN, Jeff Collins (Brandon Shields) of Copperhill, TN, and Regina Talley (James) of Ducktown, TN; grandchildren, Dustin Talley, Kayla Talley, Zachary Paul Collins, and Anthony Bledsoe; sisters, Lavada Harris of Gastonia, NC, Louise Thompson (Lewis) of Ocoee, TN, and Margaret Franklin (Perry) of Copperhill, TN; many extended relatives, and dear friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Diversicare of Copper Basin and Amedysis Hospice for the compassion and care they provided.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Dakota Knotts officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Dustin Talley, Scott Hembree, Stanley Thompson, Roger Thompson, Ike Collins, Anthony Bledsoe, and Jeff Collins. The family will visit with friends at the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill on Monday evening, May 18, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
