Mr. Donald Edward "Eddie" Newman, Jr., age 48, of Morganton, GA passed away July 17, 2012. Born in Polk County, TN he was the son of the late Donald E. Sr. and Sandra Bryant Newman. He had worked in Law Enforcement for a number of years and most recently in Twiggs Co. Georgia. He was of the Baptist Faith, a Master Mason and a Veteran of the United States Army. Survivors include his sons and one daughter-in-law, Jason and Sarah Newman of Ellijay, GA and Nathan Newman of Jasper, GA; sisters, Denise (Sean) Queen of Morganton, GA, Rhonda (Chip) Stamey of Jeffersonville, IN and Renee Harris of Madisonville, TN; grandchild, Krista Newman.Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, July 20, at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Callihan officiating. Music will be provided by Mike and Gina Coleman, Gloria Herr and Champ Prince. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Clay Hughes, Mathew Richards, Lenn Richards, Andy Nazarian, Denton Petty and Renny Ryder.
