Obituary

Mr. Dewel B. Bramlett, age 95, of Suches, Georgia, peacefully graduated to Heaven on July 16th, 2016. He was born on July 29th, 1920 in Auburn, Georgia, to the late W.B. Bramlett and the late Arlene Walker Bramlett. Mr. Bramlett survived the Great Depression, studied at the School of Aviation at the University of Georgia, and helped win World War II by training flight crews in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Mr. Bramlett tirelessly provided for his family by working many jobs including farming as well as buying and selling real estate. He was a born again Christian and a long-time member of Bethabra Baptist Church in Hoschton, Georgia. In addition to being a loving father and grandfather, Mr. Bramlett was an avid motorcyclist, a talented water skiing instructor, a mentor to a rock 'n roll band, a recreational vehicle enthusiast, and a gifted fly fisherman. Mr. Bramlett was a living link to the greatness of his generation. Though he was small in stature, he was and will forever remain a giant to his entire family. It is impossible to tell Mr. Bramlett's story without highlighting his marriage to the late Lois Doster Bramlett. He married Mrs. Bramlett on Christmas Day of 1940, which was most appropriate because their marriage of 74 years was a tremendously accurate earthly depiction of Christ's love for the Church. Their deep devotion, unswerving commitment, and love for each other serve as an inspirational example, and that example will be the most enduring aspect of their collective legacy. In his final two years of life, Mr. Bramlett perhaps taught the members of his family the most about his resilience when he chose to live after his wife of 74 years had passed away. Mr. Bramlett submitted to God's will that his family needed him on earth just a little longer. During those two years, Mr. Bramlett returned to basics by spending intentional time in Bible study and grew in his relationship with Christ all while he further cemented his legacy by offering wise counsel to the members of his family. In typical fashion, Mr. Bramlett used the last two years of his life to help his family and to prepare for his final journey home to see Lois again and to see Jesus face to face.Mr. Bramlett was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Mrs. Lois Doster Bramlett; his sister, Runette Bramlett Cronic; and his sister, Lois Nell Bramlett Sims.He is survived by children and spouses, Larry and Mary Bramlett, Sam and Carol (Bramlett) Scoggins, and Terry and Ruth Bramlett; grandchildren and spouses, Lisa (Bramlett) Moncrief, Jon and Wendy Bramlett, Zack and Raina Dupree, Christopher and Degina Scoggins, Cammie Burk, Payton and Gini Bramlett, and Leigh Ann Bramlett; great grandchildren, William Scoggins, Ashlie Moncrief, Matthew Scoggins, Catherine Scoggins, Caleb Scoggins, Z
