Mr. Dennis Ray Padgett, age 74, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on May 6, 2019 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. He was born on November 15, 1944 in Turtletown, TN, to the late Clemmer Edgar Padgett and Elsie Burger Padgett. Dennis had worked and retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company as a Miner. Dennis was an exceptionally skilled craftsman & woodworker and enjoyed many of his retired years building furniture, trading, fishing, deer hunting, and "loafering" with his wife. Dennis was also a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Turtletown, TN. Also preceding him in death was two step-daughters, Kaye Chancey Davis and Connie Chancey Brooks. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley Satterfield Padgett; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Padgett Oliver and husband Gary; step-son, Ronnie Chancey and wife Tammy; mother, Elsie Burger Padgett; sisters, Mary Millholland and Norma Gibson; grandchildren, Matthew Nicholson, Michael Nicholson, Shanda Nicholson, Kelly Davis Perenich, Fabian Baliles, Kristy Chancey Ware and Deeann Chancey Burkett; great-grandchildren, Liam Nicholson, Owen Nicholson, Tiffany Nicholson Amon, Zachary Nicholson, Brayden Perenich, Kaydence Perenich, Bralynn Ross, Tucker Ware, Carson Burkett, Logan Burkett, Joshua Burkett and Kayla Baliles. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Renny Whittenbarger officiating. A Eulogy will be given by Dennis long time friend, Larry Starks. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Fabian Baliles, Carson Burkett, Zachary Nicholson, Vic Gibson, Jamie Taylor and Larry Starks and honorary pallbearers Matthew Nicholson and Michael Nicholson.
