Delores Jessie Ballew, age 78, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. She was born on October 23, 1943, in Blue Ridge, to the late Virgil Gray and Lelia Ware. She was a member of River of Life Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible, traveling, going out to eat with her niece Lisa, and adored beautiful flowers.

Delores is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Newton; step-daughter, Tammy Newton; and brothers, C.B. Gray and Raleigh Gray.

She is survived by sister, Dorothy (Bill) Norton of Blue Ridge; sister-in-law, Joanne Gray of Mineral Bluff; step-son, William (Shawn) Newton of Suwanee; three step-grandchildren, Brandon Newton, Matthew Dillard, and Brett Dillard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family also survive.

The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel at 1:00 pm with Rev. Leonard Hunter officiating. Music was provided by Lisa Padgett. Interment followed in the Van Hook Cemetery. Pallbearers were Patrick Crain, Matt Crain, Jeff Barriault, Raymond Gray, Matthew Dillard, Matthew Patterson. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Newton, Brett Dillard, Melvin Gray, and Tim Gray.
