Obituary

Mary Della Lee Rucker, better known as Bobbie of Copperhill, TN. She passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in Ducktown, TN. Bobbie was born on June 9, 1921 in Springtown, TN to the late Rev. Bill and Mattie Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Arthur Rucker and son, Bill Rucker. Bobbie was saved and joined Springtown Baptist Church as a child and never forgot her Lord and Savior. She attended and was considered to be a member of McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle. Bobbie was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of McCaysville. Her life revolved around people and she shared her love for people. She spent most of her life in radio broadcasting. Bobbie did not retire until she was seventy-nine years old. She was known as the voice of the Copper Basin and North Georgia. Bobbie began her career at WLSB Radio in Copperhill, TN and then at WPPL in Blue Ridge, GA. She bought a second home in Jasper, GA after becoming the owner of WLJA Radio in Ellijay, GA. Bobbie managed her sons radio stations WYYZ in Jasper, GA and WKRP in Dallas, GA prior to his death. She sang in a gospel quartet, "The Lee Family", for several years. Bobbie was honor in Whos Who of American Women in 1993/1994 by the Marquis Whos Who Publications Board.Survivors are daughter, Rita Rucker of the home; grandson, Bill Rucker, Jr.; granddaughters, Audrina Ward and Natalie Ashton; nine great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Patsy Barr; brother, J.W. Lee; sisters, Lennie Messmore and Essie Stanfil and caregivers, Jan Cook, Anita Green and Emma Lou Ledford. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, November 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. from Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Crisp, Rev. Matthew McDaniel, Rev. Scott Baugh, and Rev. Nathan Stuart officiating. Music was by the McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle Choir. Interment follow in the Campground Baptist Church Cemetery. Great-Grandsons and Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The Joy Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of McCaysville, Pastor Denise Caldwell, Becca Simmons, and Deacons of McCaysville Gospel Tabernacle served as honorary pallbearers.
