Delbert Eugene Baxter, Sr., age 72 of Talking Rock, GA passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Rome, GA. He was born on June 15, 1945 in Mobile, AL to the late George Delbert and Doris Rooney Baxter. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired truck driver with Sprint Truck Lines. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Baxter, a son, Robert Baxter, and a daughter, Deborah Baxter.He is survived by his sons, Gary Baxter of Ellijay, GA, Delbert (Christie) Baxter, Jr. of McDonough, GA, and Darrell Baxter of Monticello, GA; daughters, Rebecca Baxter of Ellijay, GA and Mary Baxter of Clarksville, GA; seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Chris Chastain officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Gaurd. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at the funeral home.
