Mrs. Dean Berta Dean, age 89, of Blue Ridge passed away on Wednesday April 22, 2009. Born in Fannin County, GA she was the daughter of the late William and Nancy Kendall Hughes. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by two husbands, John Tanner and James Dean; son, Frank Tanner; great grandchild, Morgan Tanner; and three siblings, Chloe Culley, Odell Hicks, and Rena Allen.Survivors include two grandchildren, Marty and Jason Tanner both of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter-in-law, Kathy Tanner of Blue Ridge, GA; five great grandchildren, Tiffany, Justin, Jacqlyn, and Tierra Tanner and Toby Deyton; brother, Clyde Hughes of Dahlonega, GA; sister, Ruth Ward also of Dahlonega, GA; and other relatives also survive.Funeral services were conducted on Friday April 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Young and Rev. Stanley Ritter officiating. Music was provided by Jill Whitaker. Interment follow in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Marty Tanner, Jason Tanner, Joe Cowart, Donnie Kendall, Mike Kendall, and Roger Ward.
