David Earl Winters, age 77, of Jasper passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at his home. David was born on March 18, 1949 in Marietta, GA to the late Earl Winters and the late Ruth Barrett.

He spent much of his working life as a Licensed Electrician, owning and operating Service Specialty Electric. Outside of work, he loved bass fishing on the lake and spent time making his own fishing lures and baits. He also enjoyed making knives and sheaths as a hobby, putting time and care into hand-sewing each one. He especially loved getting away to the mountains, where he very much enjoyed his trips to Dollywood.

He is survived by his wife, Alece Ann Winters; children, Shelly (Tony) Morrow and Alesha (Justin) Watkins; grandchildren, Brandon (Kayla) Esparza, Matthew (Naomi) Esparza, Brady McCollum, Gracie Watkins, Sophia Watkins, Levi Morrow, and Dalton Morrow; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gail Hart, Suzan Dobson, Richard Barrett, Cathy Prince, Junior Winters, James Winters, Shane Winters, and Mike Loner; along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Pastor Tony Morrow officiating. Music will be provided by John Heard, Kathy Wilbanks, and Lisa Long. Interment will be held privately in the Sunrise Tabernacle Church Cemetery with Brandon Esparza, Matthew Esparza, Brady McCollum, Justin Watkins, Danny Cole, Billy Jones, Gracie Watkins, and Sophia Watkins serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
