Daris Jean Mashburn, affectionately known as "Jean", age 78, of Morganton, GA passed away on June 13, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was born in Morganton, to the late Carl and Lela Smith Nicholson. Jean was a wonderful homemaker who raised her family in the old fashioned ways passing down many wonderful lessons and traditions. She was a long time member of Calvary Holiness Church where she worshiped the Lord giving him thanks for the wonderful blessings in her life. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Roy Mashburn, Jr.; daughter, Greta Sue Mashburn; and siblings, Thurman Nicholson and Junior Nicholson.

Survivors include her children, Brenda and Bruce Davis of Mineral Bluff, GA, Rex and Angel Mashburn and Joe and Jennifer Mashburn all of Morgaton, GA; grandchildren, Michele (Eli) Blackwell, Brittany (Bubba) Janes, Jeremy (Emily) Mashburn, Rachel (Larry) Long, David (Desaray) Mashburn, Brooke Davis and Hope Mashburn; great grandchildren,, Sophia Janes, Waylon Blackwell, Lincoln Janes, Rhett Blackwell, Shayla Blackwell, Zeke Mashburn, Landon Mashburn, Hazel Janes and Anna Kate Mashburn; siblings, Diane Nicholson of Morganton, GA, Gary Nicholson, Robert (Lisa) Nicholson and Sue Nicholson all of Blue Ridge, GA; sisters-in-law, Ruth Nicholson and Patsy Nicholson and a host of extended relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Bro. John Cartrette and Bro. Vance Touchton officiating. Music will be provided by Sherry Cartrette. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: David Mashburn, Jeremy Mashburn, Eli Blackwell, Bubba Janes, Larry Long, David Queen, Micah Cartrette and Bruce Davis.
Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers includes: Jason Raper, Ricky Green, Stephen Lunsford, Neil Collis and Richard Reeves. The family will be receiving at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and also on Tuesday prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinscobb.com.
