Mr. Dannie Jackson "Moose" Ballew, age 55, of McCaysville passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at his home. Born in Cherokee County, NC, he was the son of the late Otis Monroe Ballew and Beulah Sadie Ballew. He worked as a diesel mechanic for K&S Tank Lines. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a brother Don Ballew. He was survived by a son, Jeremiah Scott Ballew of the home; daughter, Christina Gale Ballew of Athens, TN; grandchildren, Isaac Akins and Dominick Cofer; stepmother, Mary Ballew of Wolf Creek, NC; brothers, Tommy Ballew of Miami, FL, Troy Ballew of Dalton, GA and Charles Ballew of Eaton, GA; sister, Jean Duvall of Cleveland, TN; stepsisters, Mary Ann Snoke and Susie Gordon, both of Murphy, NC; and his special friends at K&S Tank Lines. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Warren Golden officiating. Music was by The Foundation. Interment followed in Temple Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy, NC with full military honors by North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Mike Worley, Mikey Worley, Michael Ray, Austin Ritter, Kenny Stuart, and Ken Stuart. Honorary pallbearers were Phil Dobbins and the K&S Tank Line Employees.
