Mr. Dallis Woodrow McGill, age 92, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed Friday, December 17, 2010, at his residence. He was born on June 13, 1918 to the late Thomas William and Laura Ann Allen McGill. Mr. McGill was a retired foreman with Cities Service Company and was a member of Rexall Coffee Club. He attended the Temple Baptist Church. Mr. McGill also served in the Army Air Corps as a airplane gunner during World War II. He also was a recipient of the Silver Star among various other honors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Weed McGill. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Martha and Bob Newman of McCaysville, GA and Marie and Harold Herndon of Blue Ridge, GA; one son and his wife Mitchell and Cyndi McGill of Dunwoody, GA; two brothers, Rev. Bill McGill and Hoyt McGill both of Blue Ridge, GA; one granddaughter and her husband Kimberley and Craig Widener of Carrolton, GA; three great-grandchildren, Carter, Christian and Khloe Widener of Carrolton, GA. Funeral services were at the Akins Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 20, with Dr. Roger Beck officiating. Music was by Kimberley and Craig Widener. Interment followed Copper Ridge Memory Gardens with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were Randall, Matthew, Danny, and James Edward McGill, Lamar Lance, Craig, Carter and Christian Widener. Donations may be made to the DAV Chapter #28, PO Box 473, Blue Ridge, GA 30513.
