Daisy Lee Goddard, age 83, of Blairsville, GA passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fannin County, Ga on March 22, 1934 to John Elbert Rhodes and Velmer Marie Cole Rhodes. She was a member of Sunrise Tabernacle in Blue Ridge, GA. Mrs. Goddard was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Virgil Lee Goddard. Daisy was a loving soul who loved God first, her family, her church family and everyone she met. She always had a smile for everyone and she let the light and love of Jesus Christ show in her daily walk. She was a Master Gardner that could even make dead sticks grow. She was a great Southern cook who loved growing her own vegetables. Even when it became difficult to move around her family made sure she was still able to garden as it brought her great joy. She loved to plant bulbs in the fall with her grandson and would anxiously await for the first signs of her spring flowers to bloom. Daisy could always be entertained by a good Western tv program or by her grandchildren or great grandchildren. Her husband and children adored her and she them. Daisy loved to sit and listen or sing along with her Chaplain who would come visit and sing old time hymns to her. Even as her health started to decline she always made the effort to go to church on Sunday mornings to praise her Lord and Savior. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Linda Goddard of Blue Ridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Harriet and Gary Hiener of Barberton, OH, Pauliet and Bill Machamer of Sherrodsville, OH, Linda and Randy Strickland of Blue Ridge, GA and Shirley and David Rogers of Blairsville, GA; brothers, Eb Rhodes and Harold Rhodes, both of Blue Ridge; sisters, Kathleen Stewart and Judy Stewart, both of Blue Ridge; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins Chapel with Rev. Larry Turner and Pastor Fred Webb officiating. Music will be by Fred Webb, Larry and Brenda Turner, Trent Rhodes, Charlotte Dockery, and Judy Stewart. Pallbearers will be Josh Wilson, Shawn Wilson, Paul Hiener, Nathen Strickland, Kyle Cunningham, Sam Krug, Bryan Machamer, and Sawyer Wilson. Interment will follow in Sunrise Tabernacle.
