Mrs. Cora Bearden Holloway, age 93, of Epworth, GA passed away Monday, November 30, 2015 in the Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, GA following a long illness. Mrs. Holloway was born in McCaysville, GA on June 20, 1922 to the late Barto Bearden and Lillie Stanley Bearden. She was a member of Macedonia Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband Billie Holloway. Cora was the epitome of a mother and homemaker. After moving to Michigan in the early 1950's she worked outside the home for several years but her family was always her priority. She loved to cook for her family and friends. You could always count on a hot meal at Cora's home. In her last years she often lamented she would like nothing better than to go in the kitchen and cook a huge meal for her family. Cora loved her home and gardening. She had an amazing green thumb and loved to watch her flowers grow. And, always the doting mother. Her first words to us were always, "Are you hungry?" or "Are you warm enough?". She loved to reminisce and share stories about growing up with her siblings. We will reminisce about Mom for many years to come. She was a great lady and will be sorely missed by everyone whose life she touched. She is survived by her children, Jackie Daniel Holloway of Warren, MI, William Charles (Sharon D.) Holloway of Blairsville, GA and Kathy K. Keersmaekers of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, Jimmy Holloway, Cynthia Spalding, Charlene Fortune, Cathy Holloway, Sharon Goss, and Michael Holloway; great grandchildren, Keith Holloway, Kelly Holloway, Cody Fortune, Samantha Fortune, Seth Neithofer, Zachery Goss, Justin Holloway, and Danielle McInerney; and one great granddaughter, Grace Anna McInerney. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Min. Terry Stuart officiating. Music was led by Jim Wright. Pallbearers were Chris Fortune, Bobby Bearden, Chuck Holloway, and Michael Holloway. Interment followed in Macedonia Church of Christ Cemetery.
