Mr. Clifford Lawrence Panter, age 90, of Blue Ridge, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home. He was born on March 28, 1926 in Fannin County to the late John Edgar and Margie Leanna Turner Panter. He served in the United States Army during World War II and later worked as a salesperson for Hampton Hardware. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann Stewart Panter; siblings, Edna Earl Panter, Deard Panter, Dorothy Tarpley, Ruby Hendon, and Kenneth Panter.He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Christie Panter of Chatsworth and Jeff and Pam Panter of Blue Ridge; daughter and son-in-law, Karen P. and James "Ron" Beavers of Maryville, TN; brothers, James and Irene Panter of Canton, OH, Lavelle Panter of Douglasville, Dale and Joyce Panter of Blue Ridge; sisters, Grace Miller and Wanda Jean Panter of Blue Ridge; grandchildren, Jenna Bowden, Kristian Cooper, Jeremy Panter, Jesse McCall, Cliff Panter, Kyle Panter, and Colby Panter; great-grandchildren, Natalie Panter, Bethany Panter, Jaxon Bowden, and McKinley McCall; special caregivers, Carolyn Loffer and Caroline Walters. The family would also like to give special thanks to Compassus Hospice for the care they gave to Mr. Panter during his illness. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel of Blue Ridge with Rev. Terry Thrasher officiating. Music was by Joyce and Rodney Panter, Jeff Davenport, Junior Cox and Lucy McKinney. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Ron Beavers, Kyle Panter, Colby Panter, Jeremy Panter, Matt Bowden, and Scott Stewart.
