The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mr. Clayton Lyerly Dean, age 72, of Blue Ridge who passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at his home. He was born February 11, 1937 in Charlotte, NC to the late Mack J. Dean and Grace Lowrance Dean. He retired from the United States Army and was also retired from Fannin County where he taught school for many years. Mr. Dean was of the Lutheran Faith. He is survived by his wife, Gail Dean of Blue Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Melissa Dean of Clarkesville, GA; daughter, Kari Dean of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel Dean. Military Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. from the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
