Claude William "Billy" Messer, age 78 of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015, in the Fannin Regional Hospital. He was born Thursday, July 16, 1936 in Blue Ridge, GA to the late William and Ruby Bell Messer. Billy was the owner and operator of Messer Moving Company and also a contractor for United States Postal Service for over thirty years. He was of the Baptist Faith. Billy was preceded in death by his children, Tony Messer and Charlene Messer. Surviving are his wife, Dot Messer of the home; children, Jo Ann Ball (Cecil Dockery) of Blairsville, GA, Ronnie M. Messer (Tina) of Ellijay, GA, Scotty Messer (Sylvia) of Ellijay, GA, David Messer of Stockbridge, GA, Sharon Ballew (Keith) of Ellijay, GA, Shelia Ware (Anthony) of Blue Ridge, GA, Robbie Newton of Blue Ridge, GA, Billy Joe Messer (Amy) of Blue Ridge, GA, Melinda Dillard (Les) of Ellijay, GA, Shonda Kendall (Rodney) of Blue Ridge, GA, Amanda Messer-Long of Ellijay, GA, Randy Clore (Sheila) of Blue Ridge, GA, Donnie Price of Blue Ridge, GA and Ronnie Price of Blue Ridge, GA; brothers, Buck Messer of Blue Ridge, GA, Benny Messer of Blue Ridge, GA, Richard Messer of Blue Ridge, GA and Danny Messer of Epworth, GA; sisters, Deborah Messer of Morganton, GA and Joy Clore of Blue Ridge, GA; twenty-nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive.Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. James Minick officiating. Music will be by Angie and Allen Flowers and Madison Messer. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Messer, Chandler Messer, Billy Messer, Kevin Dillard, Cody Ballew and Justin Newton.
