Mr. Clarence Leland better known as "Coon" Kennedy, age 85 of Cashes Valley Rd. passed away on December 16, 2008 at his home. Born in Alton, IL, he was the son of the late Chesley Robert and Bertha Schmidt Kennedy. He was retired from the United States Navy serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was of the Episcopalian Faith. Mr. Kennedy is preceded in death by one son, Michael Leland Kennedy; two brothers, Robert and Maurice Kennedy. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Kennedy of Blue Ridge, GA; one daughter, Ann Smiley Kennedy Studley of Murphy, NC; brother, Kenneth W. Kennedy of Yellow Springs, OH; grand daughter, Heather Rebekah Kennedy of Daytona Beach, FL. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday December 20, at 1:00 p.m. from the St. Lukes Episcopal Church with Rev. Victor Morgan officiating. Music will be provided by Eileen Kerr. Military rites will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Lukes Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or to the Humane Society of Blue Ridge at P.O. Box 2126 Blue Ridge, GA 30513.
