Obituary

Mr. Clarence E. "Andy" Anderson, age 86, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Heritage Health Care in Blue Ridge, GA, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 15, 1923 in Gilmer County, GA, to the late William Wesley and Carrie Brown Anderson. Mr. Anderson had a loving and caring personality in the family business of Andy's Jewelers in Blue Ridge and Ellijay, GA. He was a member of Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F & AM, Royal Arch of Ellijay, GA, Jewelers of America, and GA Retail Jewelers Association as a past president. Mr. Anderson was a member of Blue Ridge First Baptist Church and was Sunday School Superintendent for seven years. He served his country in World War II in the United States Navy and was part of the Occupation Forces in Japan after World War II. Mr. Anderson enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and to many other countries. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Betty Thomas Anderson of Blue Ridge; two sons, Jeffrey Scott Anderson of Blue Ridge, GA and Thomas Keith Anderson of Athens, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Anderson Goss and Jim of Duluth, GA; two brothers, Robert Anderson of Covington, GA and Floyd Anderson of Ellijay, GA; two sisters, Frances A. McClure of Dalton, GA and Marie A. Dews of Suwanee, GA; five grandchildren, Josh, Drew, David, Wesley and Ali Anderson also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Chapel with Dr. Charlie Howell officiating. Eulogies were by Dale Dyer and Jim Goss. Music was by Dr. William Thomas III. Mr. Anderson's nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Don Hall, Glenn Nicholson, Dale Dyer, Bruce Nance, Garlin Davis, John Ashe, and Sammy Patterson. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park.
