Clara Miller Chancey, age 81, of Blue Ridge, GA passed away at her home Tuesday, December 2, 2014 following a brief fight with cancer. Clara was born March 13, 1933 in Gilmer County, GA to the late Lake R. and Bessie Rogers Miller. Clara retired from nursing, working at Copper Basin Medical Center and Dr. J.T. Layne for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband John Reed Chancey; granddaughter Alisa K. O'Neill and brother Ralph Miller of New York. Mrs. Chancey was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, and a member of the Beulah Chapter O.E.S, Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jeanette M. Chancey, daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jeffrey O'Neill, daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and George L. Ensley and daughter and son-in-law Robin and Van Pickelsimer; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren; brother, Nolan Miller; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Glenn Nicholson, sister and brother-in-law Ann and John Vickery, sister-in-law Martha Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Billy Ray Queen and Rev. Joe Dan Wilkins officiating. Music will be by Pat Mashburn. Burial will be in the Damascus Church Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Chancey officiating. Pallbearers will be Grandsons Tim Chanceym Shawn Chancey, Johnny Ensley, Michael Bennett, Nathan Chancey, Beau Chancey and Matthew Pickelsimer. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons Tyler Ensley, Kayleb Chancey, Chandler Ensley, David Chancey, Jordan Merwin, Easton Chancey, and Reed Chancey. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Mrs. Chancey may be made to the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 205 Nicholson Road Blue Ridge, GA 30513.
