Obituary

"Chig" Morris Jackson Jones, age 77 of Copperhill, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior, while surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Tennova Hospital in Cleveland, TN. Morris was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jerry and Rosa A. Jones and sisters, Irene Jones and Hazel Collins. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. Morris served a two-year term in the United States Army, 9th Infantry in Saigon, Vietnam from 1966-1968. He received the good conduct medal in the Army. Morris was part of the Copper Basin High School graduating class of 1962. He was voted best all-around young man for his graduating class. As an adult, he worked for the Tennessee Copper Company for 33 years. He was a devoted husband for 56 years to his wife, Rose, and loving father to his four children and an amazing papaw to his eight grandchildren. He enjoyed being with family and friends. He also loved to make people smile. Morris had a very unique loving heart and a giving spirit. He always sought to help others and be a friend to those in need by showing Gods love. His favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me. His desire is to see his friends and family in Heaven with him. Morris is survived by his loving wife, Rose Jones of Copperhill, TN; sister, Dollene Jordan of Richmond, IN and four children, Tammy Brooks of Murphy, NC, Tina Taylor of Coker Creek, TN, Tonya Wallace of Cleveland, TN and Jack Jones of Sweetwater, TN; sons-in-laws, Mark Brooks of Murphy, NC and Rev. Kenny Taylor of Coker Creek, TN; daughter-in-law, Hannah Jones of Sweetwater, TN. He left eight grandchildren, David Brooks, Lauren Brooks, Kaitlin Gray, Stone Gray (adopted grandson), Noah Wallace, Eli Wallace, Wilder Jones, Ford Jones and Barrett Jones. He left two nephews, Brian Collins of Copperhill, TN and Michael Jordan of Richmond, IN. Morris is a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He has run the race and is now resting in Jesus with a glorified body where there is no more suffering, pain nor sorrow and where all of his treasures are in heaven. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday evening, October 31, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Don Padgett and Rev. Kenny Taylor officiating. Singers were Lauren Brooks, Tina Taylor, Tiffany Wiseman, Steve and Debbie Whitener. Pianist was Kelly McDonald. Interment followed on Monday morning, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bethlehem Cemetery. Military Honors were provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. There was a White Dove Release at the cemetery. Pallbearers were David Brooks, Eli Wallace, Stone Gray, Mark Brooks, Brian Collins, David Trantham, Tim Trantham, Troy Dillard and Keith Dilbeck. Honorary Pallbearers were Junior Collins, Wayne Stillwell, David Taylor, Charles Locke and Jerry Hyde. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
