Charline Panter Montgomery, age 84, of the Postelle community, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026. She was born on January 16, 1942, in Copperhill, to the late Charlie Panter and Etha Mae Goss Panther. She worked for many years as a CNA at Copper Basin Medical Center. She was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in the Postelle Community, but in her later years had been attending Mine City Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Nanney; brother, Jerry Panther; and grandson, Matthew Barfield.

Charline is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jackie "Noodles" Montgomery; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Terrell Sykes, Jackie and Charlie Rider, and Pamela and Darrell Mathis; grandchildren, David (Tiffany) Barfield, Joshua (Katie) Holt, Charles Michael Rider, Jeremiah (Riki) Rider, Darrell (Gena) Mathis, and Nicole Mathis; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 2:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Terry Gladson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in the Postelle community. Pallbearers will be Darrell Mathis, David Barfield, Jay Mathis, Terrell Sykes, and Rick Rhyne. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Nanney and Matthew Barfield, Jr.. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday Evening from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
