Mr. Charlie Henry Watkins of Blue Ridge, GA passed away on Friday, November 06, 2009 at Fannin Regional Hospital. He was born in Union County, GA on December 15, 1910 to the late Joseph B. and Martha Jane Chambers Watkins. Mr. Watkins was a retired farmer and was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie Davenport Watkins; daughter, Bennielee Watkins; daughter-in-law, Patsy Watkins; brother, Jewell Watkins; sister, Annie Watkins. He is survived by two sons, Arnold Watkins of Blue Ridge and Ray and wife, Sharon Watkins of Blue Ridge; four daughters, Vera Watkins, Beulah Watkins, Selva Watkins and Dorothy Watkins all of Blue Ridge; four grandchildren, Brad Watkins, Michelle Smith, Renee Reece, Ashley Watkins and Kelley Watkins; two great grandchildren, Titus Smith and Asa Smith. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Ada Street in Blue Ridge with Rev. Kenneth Mann and Rev. Bill McGill officiating. Music was by Barbara Gilliam, Rodney and Joyce Panter. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Rev. Michael Pope officiating. Pallbearers were Brad Watkins, Carl Franklin, Anthony Smith, Todd Reece, Randall Woody, Clyde Woody and Howard Woody. Honorary Pallbearers were Pat Harris, George Godfrey, Jim Allen, Winston Rhodes, Roger Cobb, J.B. Rhodes, Lavelle Panter and Rev. Danny Queen.
