Charles Philemon Jones "Phil," loving dad and brother, passed away Friday June 13, 2014 at Riverdale Place Care and Rehabilitation Center in Riverdale, GA. Phil was a retiree of the Lockheed GA Company where he worked in many roles and many aircraft delivered to the United States Air Force through the Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton administrations. Phil was also part of Boeing Aircraft on loan from Lockheed at the time and delivery of the first Boeing 747 Air Force One to President Ronald Reagan. He was an Atlanta Braves fan, Georgia Tech fan, firearms enthusiast, and outdoorsman. A native to Fannin County, Phil served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1970, was a graduate of West Fannin High School Class of 1963 and marched as Drum Major for the West Fannin High School Marching Band. Phil was a Master Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and belonged to the McCay Lodge #423. He was also a member of Willamstown United Methodist Church. Phil was preceded in death by his Mother Lois Q. Jones of McCaysville, Father Wayne Jones of McCaysville, and Brother James T. "Jimmy" Jones Sr. of Ellijay, GA. He is survived by his sons, Jeff Jones of Knoxville, TN, Joel Jones of Blue Ridge, GA, Jeremy Jones of Marietta, GA, one sister Jerrie Sue Massengale of McCaysville, GA, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. There was a memorial service in memory of Phil at the Williamstown United Methodist Church Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at the Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill.
