Mr. Charles Lester Newberry, 67 of Blue Ridge, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012, at his home. Born May 28, 1945 in Copperhill, Tennessee he was the son of the late Lester Martin and Versia Marie Howell Newberry. He was a 1963 Graduate of West Fannin School. At age thirteen he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Mr. Newberry was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a truck driver for Cities Service.Survivors include his wife Doris Patterson Newberry, son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Tammy Newberry of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Gray of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, Jerrica, Michael and Emily Gray.Funeral services were conducted on Saturday November 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Elliott and Rev. Larry Welch officiating. Music was provided by The Farmer Family. Pallbearers were James McGill, Jimmy Patterson, Lewis Chambers, Steve Beavers, Kurt Becken, and Bobby Dills. Interment followed in Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Mr. Newberry may be made to the Hospitality Lodge P.O. Box 907 Dacula, GA 30019.
