May 3, 1946 – December 1, 2024
Charles "Chub" Patterson, age 78, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at his home in Blue Ridge, on the birthday of his beloved late wife, Diane Queen Patterson. He was born on May 3, 1946, in Copperhill, TN, to the late Dock Adam Patterson and Nancy Huddleston Patterson.
Chub retired from Levi Strauss after many years of service and great relationships. He will always be remembered for his support and passion for all of Fannin County High School Athletics. Known for his love of the community, Chub was cherished by many and made lasting friendships with those around him. He was a legend in our community and will be missed by so many.
He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Deborah Diane Queen Patterson; and siblings, Cortez Patterson, Shirley Jones, Glouretta Hughes, Irene Waters, and Agnes McCay.
Chub is survived by his beloved children, Randall Patterson of Blue Ridge, GA, Chuck Patterson (Beth) of SC, and Mike Bailey (Sarah) of MI; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Van Patterson of McCaysville, GA and Dock Jr. Patterson of Washington; several other relatives, dear friends, and fellow Rebel Fans.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Terry Callihan and Johnny Farmer officiating. Special music was by Raven Welch-Harris. Interment followed in the Mt. Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Wyatt Patterson, Johnny Farmer, Steve Taylor, Connor Patterson, Grady Patterson, and Bill Prather. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers are: Jimmy Stanley, Clifton "Rabbit" Hicks, Jerry Hyde, Van Patterson, Dock Jr. Patterson, Mike Herndon, past and present Lady Rebels, and the employees of Fannin Lanes. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday and Friday evenings from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday until the funeral service hour.
The family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Patterson be made to the FCHS Athletics Program c/o Jeremy King, 360 Rebel Circle, Blue Ridge, GA 30513.
