Carlton George White, age 80, of Epworth, GA passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 in the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Mr. White was born in Fannin County, GA on December 28, 1932 to the late George Washington White and Pearly Lewis White. He worked as a millright for Great Lake Steel in Ecorse, MI. Mr. White enjoyed hunting and bowling, having bowled in leagues both in Michigan and locally, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a United States Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Shirley Weaver White of Epworth; sons, Mark White and Timothy White; daughter, Cathy Meyers; stepchildren, Polly Long, Trisha Thomas, Donna Roberts, Marsha Deal, Stacie Cochran, Michael Chastain and Shannon Owensby; brother, Ernest White; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Justin Deal officiating. Pallbearers were Matthew Dilbeck, Brandon White, Christopher White, Shannon Owensby, Rodney Ensley, and Jason Tanner. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
