Calvin JR Dotson, age 88 of Epworth passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Fannin Regional Hospital. He was born on August 4, 1933 in Knoxville, TN to late Ronnie Zollie Dotson and Rillie Rittenhouse Dotson. JR worked at Piggly Wiggly from 1968 until 2000 as a meat cutter and then moved into management. He attended First Baptist Church of Epworth. JR loved baseball and football. He especially enjoyed the Braves and was a Tennessee Fan. JR coached little league baseball. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Era. JR was the last of nine children. Survivors are his wife of fifty-three years, Dianna Dotson of Epworth, GA; children, Mark Dotson (Laurie) of Chattanooga, TN, Brian Dotson of Chattanooga, TN, Kevin Dotson (Beverly) of Blue Ridge, GA and Lorie Schmitz (Matt) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Cameron Dotson, Bridget Dotson, Caleb Dotson, Kenan Dotson, Matthew Schmitz and Scarlett Schmitz; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Dotson and Delilah Monroe; a host of nieces; nephews; relatives and friends also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Funerals and Cremations of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be by Edward Vest. Interment will follow in the Epworth First Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
