The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces Funeral Services for Mr. Byron Lee, better known as "Gabby" McCay, age 60, of Mt. Airy, GA who passed away on April 17, 2010. Born in Copperhill TN he was the son of the late Arthur Byron "Buck" McCay, Jr. and Agnes Patterson McCay. He was also the grandson of the late Arthur B. McCay, Sr. and Pearl Barclay McCay and Doc and Nancy Patterson. Mr. McCay owned and operated a horse and carriage touring business in Helen, GA. He was also a member of the Gold Miners Club in Helen, and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Copperhill, TN. Survivors include his spouse, Martha Haynes of the home; two sons, Ezra McCay of Otto, NC and Dylan Lee Haynes of the home; three daughters, Kathleen Lofton of the home, Amanda Lofton of Daufuskie Island, SC and Annie Marie Haynes of Perry, GA; four grandchildren, Dyllon Duncan, Kendrick Sutton, Emily and Aubrey Lofton; one sister, Ann Smith of Soddy Daisy, TN; nieces and nephews, Shawn, Ashley and Natasha Smith; many cousins and friends; and one canine companion, Little Bit of the home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday April 19, 2010 from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jennings Neeld officiating. Music will be provided by Raven Welch. Serving as pallbearers will be Dylan Lee Haynes and Ezra McCay.
