Roy "Buddy" Wilson Freeman Jr., age 75, of Murphy passed away on July 27, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. Roy was born on August 17, 1945 in Avondale, GA to the late Roy Wilson Freeman Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Morris Freeman. He worked as engineer for Freeman Equipment Company. Roy was a dedicated church member at First Baptist Church of Epworth, and previously, at First Baptist Church of Blairsville for twelve years. Roy was a member of the Gideons serving at the Union County Camp as treasurer for eight years. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Susan Freeman of the home; children, Stacy Freeman Chastain and husband, Scott Chastain of Dacula, GA, Steven Hines Freeman and wife, Jennifer Freeman of Decatur, GA, and Michael Ross Freeman of Atlanta, GA; and grandchildren, Mitchell Chastain, Sarah Chastain, Lauren Chastain, William Hines Freeman, and Mary Evelyn Freeman. Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of Epworth with Rev. Chris Clark and Mike Richards officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gideon's International Union County Camp at P.O. Box 521 Blairsville, GA 30514.
