Mrs. Blanche Marie Ganues, age 77, of Morganton, GA passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. She was born in Fannin County on December 21, 1930 to the late Walter Smith and Sadie Arp Smith. She worked as security for East Fannin High School and was a member of Morganton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Lyndale Ganues and two brothers, Garnett Smith and Bobby G. Smith. She is survived by her husband, Fred Ganues of Morganton; son, Fred Ganues, Jr. of Morganton; sisters, Leslie Nichols of Blakely, CA, Regina Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Jeanette McClure of Ellijay, and Genova Kinser of Ellijay; and two grandchildren, Greg H. Ganues and Henry Ganues. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Keith Jones officiating. Music was by Rev. Keith Jones and Debbie Jones. Pallbearers were Tommy Smith, Randy Smith, Greg Ganues, Jack Ganues, Roscoe Nash, Mike Ganues, Hubert Arp, and Delmar Branton. Honorary pallbearer was Bernard Ganues.
