Mr. Billy Ray Ross, age 64, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away on February 17, 2010 in the Charles George Veterans Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born in Fannin County, GA he was the son of the late Claude and Virgie Garren Ross. He was veteran of the United States Army and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked for a number of years as a textile mechanic. Mr. Ross was also preceded in death by his brothers, Wilburn, Howard, Cecil and Roy Ross; sisters, Susie Cole, Edith Ross, Ruth Carver, Frankie Mae White and Betty Jean Ross.Survivors include his wife of thirty nine years, Martha M. Ross of Wilmore, KY; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Matthew Kingston of Richmond, KY; grandchildren, Abigail, Caleb, Nathaniel and Olivia Kingston; one brother, Vernon Ross of IN; sisters, Hazel Ross of Mineral Bluff, GA and Nellie Rayfield of Lincolnton, NC; and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, February 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew Kingston and Rev. Harold Dillard officiating. Interment followed in the Ross Family Cemetery with full military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
