Mr. Billy Pittman, age 81, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at his home. Mr. Pittman was born on May 22, 1929 in Fannin County to the late Claude and Dueane Beavers Pittman. He was a member of Salem #2 Baptist Church. Mr. Pittman served as a Baptist deacon for over fifty years. He was retired from Boliden Intertrade as a supervisor. Mr. Pittman served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an avid cattle farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia Montene Thomas Pittman. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Beverly Pittman of Mineral Bluff, GA and Terry and Tracy Pittman of Mineral Bluff, GA; one daughter, Sharon Gilreath of Blue Ridge, GA; two brothers, Charles "Brownie" Pittman of McCaysville, GA and Donald "Butch" Pittman of McCaysville, GA; five sisters, Shirley Barnes of Stockbridge, GA, Carol Sue Stiles of Cumming, GA; Hildred Smith of Smyrna, GA; Barbara Loudermilk of Dallas, GA and Regina Franklin of Smyrna, GA; eight grandchildren, Rev. Bill Pittman, Daphne Pittman, Heather Gravely, Louis Evans, Timmy Evans, Cherish Evans, Matt Oliver, Lucas Linder; great-grandchildren, Chance Pittman, Ethan Long, Tyler Gravely, Clayton Gravely, Lexi Gravely and Nola Mae Oliver also survive. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Tommy Bell and Rev. Bill Pittman officiating. Music was by Krystie Daves and the A.C. Caylor Family. Pallbearers were Rev. Bill Pittman, Louis Evans, Lucas Linder, Timmy Evans, David Conrad and H.E. Mizell. Interment followed in Copper Ridge Memory Garden with full military honors by The North Georgia Honor Guard.
