Mrs. Betty Faye Ferrell Whatley, age 70, of Mineral Bluff, GA passed away on Tuesday September 1, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Cairo, GA on July 18, 1939. She graduated from Cairo High School and attended the Georgia Baptist Hospital for Radiological training. Mrs. Whatley retired from Radiology Associates in Tallahassee, FL as a Radiological Technician after forty years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville where she served in the Choir, as the Church Librarian, and in the Prime Time Choir. Mrs. Whatley was preceded in death by her father, George Crestial Ferrell. Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Warren Preston Whatley; two sons and daughter-in-laws, David Mark Whatley and wife Annamarie of Tallahassee, FL and Michael Warren Whatley and wife Cheryl Lynn of Cocoa, FL; mother, Lucille F. Ferrell of Cairo, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Monty and Elizabeth Ferrell of Cairo, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Susan Jill Byers and husband Jack of Benton, TN; grandchildren, Jason Matthew Whatley and wife Riley Joan of Eastpointe, MI and Christopher Michael Whatley of Gainesville, FL; one great grandchild, Carter David Whatley. Funeral services were conducted Friday September 4, at 2:00 p.m. from the First Baptist Church of McCaysville with Rev. Harry Gilbert officiating. Music was provided by Katie Gilbert and the Prime Time Choir. The following gentlemen were selected to serve as pallbearers: Gerald Middlebrook, Leroy Rigdon, Jason Whatley, Chris Whatley, Robert Navarre, and Larry Navarre. John Way was selected to serve as an Honorary Pallbearer. Interment followed in the Crestlawn Cemetery.
