Mrs. Betty Lee Conner, age 82, of Blue Ridge passed away Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Heartland Hospice House in Cartersville, GA. Born in Dresden, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Merrick and Hazel Alice Wagner Arehart. She was a member of Morganton Baptist Church for over fifteen years. She formally taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Mr. William P. Conner. She enjoyed fishing, baking, reading, quilting, crocheting and was a devout Christian. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Don P. and Shirley Conner of Andover, MN and Alan and Angela Conner of Canton, GA; son, Jon Conner of Morganton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Duane Gertzen of Remer, MN, Debra and Tommy Plunkett of Lithia Springs, GA and Lynne and Steve Holland of Kennesaw, GA; two sisters, Frances Wagenman of ACampo, CA and Elaine Holck of Lockeford, CA; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her faithful canine companion Sadie; numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Morganton Baptist Church with Rev. Claude Mathis officiating. Music was by Angela Conner and Barbara Conner. Pallbearers were Jon Plunkett, Travis Plunkett, Mark Conner, Cody Conner, James Conner, and Michael Holland. Honarary Pallbearers were Shane Gertzen and Ross Gertzen. Interment followed in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mrs. Conner may be made to the American Cancer Society, Fannin Chapter P.O. Box 2984 Blairsville, GA 30514. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of arrangements.
