The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces the death of Mrs. Betty Lou Cochran, age 83, of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 in Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Cochran was born August 14, 1926 in Fannin County, GA to the late Cloey Long and Siria Farmer Long. She was a faithful member of Young's Chapel Baptist Church for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George Rubert "Bert" Cochran. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Early and Lynn Cochran of Jonesboro, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Tipton of Fayettville, GA, Carolyn and Johnny Leatherwood of Barnesville, GA, Shirley and Jerry Stockton of Blue Ridge, GA, Jewell Harris of Zellwood, FL, and Ella Mae and Bobby Anderson of McDonough, GA; brothers, Frank Long of Blue Ridge, GA and Bunyon Long of Douglasville, GA; sisters, Jane Ledford and Carrie Conley, both of Blue Ridge, GA, Ruth Hawkins of Mineral Bluff, GA, and Ruby Boone of McDonough, GA; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and a host of friends and family. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. from the Young's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Max Curtis, Rev. Jackie Cochran, and Rev. Kenneth Mann officiating. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Young's Chapel Church Cemetery.
