The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Betty Jo Harper Arp, age 77, of Ducktown, TN who passed away Monday, October 18, 2010. Betty was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a daughter of the late Roy and Nora Mae Burnette Harper. She was retired with the Fannin County School system where she worked as a custodian for twenty years. She was a member of the McCaysville Church of God. She was preceded in death by brothers, Bill Harper, Jimmy Harper and Pete Harper.Survivors include her husband, Clifford Arp of the home; two sons, David (Harriett) Emig of McCaysville, GA, Jeffrey (Annie) Emig of Copperhill, TN; daughter, Cindy (Alan) Ritchie of Blue Ridge, GA; Step sons, Rick Arp of Ducktown, TN, Danny Arp of Ducktown, TN; brother, Don (Margaret) Harper of Canton, GA; Sister-in-law, JoAnn Harper of Copperhill,TN; Five grandchildren, Michael Ritchie, Melissa Galloway, Heather Duvall, Dustin Long and Luke Long; five great-grandchildren, Paris Kirby, Dylan Galloway, Garrett Ritchie, Bryer Duval and McKenzie Duvall. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 21, at 2:00 P.M. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Chris Taylor and Travis Nicholson officiating. Music will be by Homer Johnson and Karen Hicks. Pallbearers include, Tony Thrasher, Mark Nicholson, Calvin Johnson, Keith Ritchie, Max Housley and James Long. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
