The Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill announces funeral services for Benny Robert O'Neal, age 51, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of McCaysville, GA, who passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009. Benny was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a son of the late Robert Charles and Recie Jean Payne O'Neal. He worked as a steel rigger in construction. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny O'Neal. He is survived by daughter, Louvetia Cherie O'Neal Cook of McCaysville, GA; three grandchildren, Raven and T.J. Ross and Trinity Cook. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 20th at 2:00 PM from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Lamar O'Neal and Rev. Ed O'Neal officiating. Music will be by the Canaan Land Quartet. Pallbearers include Kenny O'Neal, Reggie Phelan, Matthew Callihan, Larry Herman, Danny Payne and Melissa O'Neal. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Donations in memory of Benny may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
