Benny Harold Loudermilk, age 93, of Murphy passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Benny was born on January 12, 1933 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Clint Loudermilk and Elsie Boring Loudermilk. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Benny is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Clay Loudermilk, Max Loudermilk, Clifford Loudermilk, Jim Loudermilk, Wayne Loudermilk, Jenny Wilcox, Carol Cheek, and Linda Cheek.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Loudermilk; sons, Bruce (Jessica) Loudermilk and Eddie (Johnnie) Loudermilk; sister, Joe Hoover; brother Mitchell Loudermilk; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM from the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Howard officiating. Mr. Loudermilk lay in state at the church prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Music was provided by the Russell O'Neal Family. Interment followed in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marc Loudermilk, Russ Loudermilk, Randall Wilcox, Doug Cheek, Gerald Loudermilk, Rick Boring, Steve Boring, and Ben Loudermilk. Honorary pallbearers were Don Bigham, Mitchell Prince, Doug Prince, Ronald Wilcox, Jason Loudermilk, Dalan Loudermilk, Woodee Cheek, Chuck Cheek, Jack Bigham, and Derek Cheek. The family visited with friends at Akins-Cobb of Copperhill on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
