Benjamin "Ben" Lee Powell, 73, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1952, in Charleston, Mississippi, to the late Elmer Powell and Patricia Hargett Powell.

After graduating high school, Ben attended Delta State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. He built a successful career as a peanut oil broker, supplying major food manufacturers across the country.

In his younger years, Ben loved the thrill of water skiing and being out on the water. As he grew older, he found peace and enjoyment in fishing and tending to his garden-pastimes that reflected his quiet, steady nature and appreciation for the simple things in life.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Patti Powell; and also his special dog, Cleo.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ginny Powell; brothers, Buddy (Stacy) Powell and Bill (Emily) Powell; sisters-in-law and their spouses, Amy (Gerry Melton) McCoy, Teresa (David) Queen, and Lisa (Joe) Barker; numerous nieces and nephews and also great nieces and nephews; special friend, Adam Waters; and also, his loving dog Molly.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Powell was held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12:00 PM from the Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward Murrey, Rev. Dr. David Jones, and Rev. Oscar Carrasco officiating. Friends visited the family prior to the service from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 12:00 PM. Interment was held privately following the service.
